Subject: FNM – Use of Government Travel Charge Cards.
Purpose: To provide guidelines on use of Government Travel Cards.
Expiration Date: September 30, 2008.
This is a reminder to all employees that NRCS
is committed to ensuring compliance with USDA
regulations regarding Government Travel Cards. USDA
Regulation 2300-001 sets forth USDA’s Zero Tolerance
Policy, strictly prohibiting the following uses of the Government Travel Charge Card:
- Unauthorized charges and charges not associated with official travel
- Charges while not in an official travel status
- Shared use of the Government Travel Charge Card with another employee for official travel purposes
- Account delinquency beyond a 30-day period
- Failure to use the Government Travel Card while on official travel
- Failure to pay accounts with sufficient funds
- Failure to use Government voucher reimbursements to repay travel expenses
- Excessive ATM cash withdrawals or
ATM cash withdrawals not commensurate with official travel
Employees who violate the above regulation are subject to disciplinary action. Agency policy for addressing
misuse of the travel card was issued to all employees in National Instruction 360.300, dated August 2007.
