USDA Reaches out to Women and Hispanics

USDA is reaching out to Woman and Hispanic farmers who may have been improperly denied farm loan benefits between 1981 and and 2000. USDA is making an effort to notify and provide information to anyone that feels they are part of this group. The information includes fact sheets and summary notices that provide an overview concerning compensation for claims of discrimination.

NRCS Announces $529,000 in Funding for Tennessee Conservation Projects under the Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative

Under the Mississippi River Basin Healthy Watersheds Initiative (MRBI), NRCS will provide up to $43 million in financial assistance through conservation programs to support more than 70 existing projects in the following states: Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin. Tennessee will receive a total of $529,000 for projects in the Forked Deer, South Fork Obion, Obion, and Red River watersheds.

USDA Seeks Applications for Grants to Help Farmers and Ranchers Improve Rural Environmental Quality and Energy Efficiency

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced that USDA is seeking proposals for grants to improve water quality, air quality and promote energy conservation. USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is making available $25 million through the Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) program to address natural resource concerns nationwide with a special emphasis on the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and the Mississippi River Basin.
